Little Known Ways to Clear Your Skin with Fish Oil Acne Remedies

Posted Jan 26 2011 11:00am

Is there really a natural way to clear up your skin? Fortunately, you have come to the right place since I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that harmful topical and oral medications for acne not only don’t work but can cause serious damage to your health and your skin. Instead, I encourage you to use natural remedies such as the fish oil acne treatment for a safer and more consistent approach towards healing.

What I first must point out is that there is no one magical product to cure acne, no matter how healthy it seems.

I am a big supporter of the fish oil acne remedy, but there is no way that it is going to work to clear up your skin if it is not also paired with a healthy diet that will flush the toxins from your body that are causing acne in the first place .

In fact, the omega-3s found in fish oil are necessary and part of an optimally healthy diet. The two work hand in hand!

With that being said, as you start to clean up your diet to relieve your acne, you too may be under the common misconception that all fats are bad for your health and your skin. That couldn’t be further from the truth!

It is actually a non-negotiable to have good fats in your diet, like omega-3 fatty acids, if you want any hope of maintaining the health of your skin, not to mention the health of your body. Omega-3 fatty acids are found in fish oil and are the basis of fish oil acne treatments. The most common sources of omega-3s are mackerel, herring, sturgeon, and anchovies, and fish oil can also be found in a variety of supplements.

According to Web M.D., omega-3 fatty acids provide a long list of health benefits that include: [1]

  • Reduced risk of heart disease and stroke
  • Reduced symptoms of hypertension
  • Reduced risk of depression
  • Reduced risk of ADHD
  • Relief from joint pain and rheumatoid issues
  • Treatment of skin ailments

Omega-3 fatty acids provide an impressive range of health benefits, as well as support for the health of the skin because of the simple fact that they boost your immune system .

Contrary to popular belief, acne is not caused by surface bacteria on the skin. It is actually a result of an imbalanced diet that disrupts healthy digestion and ultimately leads to a weakened immune system. Of course, your skin is one of the first areas to show signs of a damaged immune system, resulting in a weakened barrier that leaves you vulnerable to a number of skin conditions, namely acne.

In laymen terms, your immune system is directly tied to your skin’s health!

A simple search on the acne.org forums brings up a bunch of testimonials:

Overall, I’d recommend people try fish oil if they haven’t given it a bash yet – you never know until you try! I’ve found it has helped me, and in combination with zinc, it’s had a tremendous impact on the overall condition of my skin, not just my acne. My skin is softer and smoother, and my complexion has evened out a fair bit.

Consumed 4g a day (5 800 mg capsules) for about a week after having taken one a day for about a year. May be good for overall health, but certainly didn’t noticeably help my skin. Although it may be a coincidence, I also did get far more clogged pores (some of which became inflamed and moved to whiteheads) than before ramping up fish oil consumption.

I started fish oils a couple of years ago for acne + depression after reading about it here! I was taking it for a good long while, but slowly declined and eventually stopped. Just recently I started again, this time investing in the best quality I could find. So far I’m on day 2, and have noticed an immediate difference. My skin feels moisturized from the inside out, and seems to glow. My lips haven’t been as dry/cracked. Some of my swollen pimples are already becoming smaller. My hair which is often tangly is tangle free + silky. Last but not least it really does help w/ depression!

Now that you understand the great importance of omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil acne remedies to strengthen and improve the health of your skin, it is important to point out that this is only one step in the right direction. You can’t make the mistake of thinking that you can eat any processed or sugary foods that you want and just take a fish oil acne supplement to clear up your skin. This will not work.

Instead, it is important to balance your diet with fresh vegetables and lean proteins, like wild caught fish. In fact, eating wild caught fish is an even better way to get natural omega-3 fatty acids to improve your skin than simply taking a supplement.

The bottom line is that omega-3s are just one type of fatty acid that are necessary to improve the health of your body from head to toe, reflected in clear skin that is free from acne. It is imperative to get healthy fats from other sources as well, like butyric acid from butter and lauric acid from coconut oil, to improve your immune system and relieve acne in your skin.

Bottom line: Fish oil acne remedies are one step in the right direction and can offer long-term acne relief when coupled with a balanced and healthy diet!
