A woman from Paulding County Georgia was rushed to the hospital, and awoke to find out that she was in ICU and had lost her left breast, but it was not cancer which caused Victoria Franklin to need a double mastectomy, it was a spider bite! Franklin is recovering from the major surgery after being bitten by the brown recluse somewhere in her home.
Breast loss requiring reconstruction due to causes other than cancer is unusual but not unheard of. Brown recluse spiders can cause large volume tissue loss and leave devastating wounds.
