Face Scrubs

Posted Jul 29 2009 8:22am
If your complexion seems a bit dull and lifeless maybe it's time to add a face scrub to your daily skin care routine. The most common questions I get asked are:

Why exfoliate?
Exfoliating removes the dead skin cells on the surface of your skin. Those dead skin cells can make your skin look dry and dull. Once those dead cells are removed it makes it easier for your skin to absorb your moisturizing lotion.

How often should I exfoliate?
It depends on your skin type. Sensitive skin would benefit from exfoliating once a week where oily skin could be "scrubbed" every day. Adjust your routine depending on how your skin is reacting. If it gets irritated you know you are over doing it.

What are some natural ingredients to exfoliate with?
One of the best ingredients to use is alpha-hydroxy acid. Sound harsh? Not really...it's just another name for fruit acids. Fruit acids loosen cell bonds and exfoliate the skin. Another benefit of fruit is that it has antioxidants to keep your skin healthy. Good fruit choices are strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, cherries, pineapple juice, lemon juice, acai berries and goji berries.

Try a fruit scrub and see the difference in your complexion.
