Which Redken Permanent Color Should I Use? Redken Creative Consultant, David Stanko Answers

The latest reader beauty question is about hair coloring, specifically with Redken products:
“Hi, I have a choice between Redken color fusion and color gels. I have very few, but very resistant grays. Which one do you think I should go with?–Irina”
Well Irina, I decided to go straight to Redken’s Creative Consultant, David Stanko who also is the Color Director at Angelo David Salon in NYC, to get the answer for you:
“Although both Redken color brands are high quality, conditioning permanent haircolor products and capable of lightening, darkening and covering gray, I would make 3 suggestions: 1) Check out Redken.com where tons of questions are posted and you can do some research about hair color
2) Defer to your hair colorist to help you make the choice and
3) Ask yourself: do you want to cover your grays or add some highlights to blend them in? If you want them covered, do you want to stay with your natural hair color or go lighter, darker or change the tone entirely?
You see there are many considerations (and some missing technical details from your question — like: are your resistant grays concentrated in one area or strewn throughout your entire head) which is why its best to seek out a Redken Certified Hair Colorist in your area (you can log on to Redken to find one).
If you were my first time client at Angelo David in NYC, assuming you had a gray patch, I would “spot color” your gray patch using Color Gels staying as close to your natural color as possible. Happy Coloring!”
