The Japanese culture is fairly well known for it’s strict rules and laws. Now it seems the tight regulations are being applied to…nails.
From now on, Japanese competitive swimmers be given a lifetime ban swimming in competitions if they dye their hair or have brightly painted nails.
Officials say, “We have had many recent controversies with marijuana in sport and at universities, and this is about swimming taking a stand on its own initiative.” The officials also cited similar rules for the US and Australian teams. Well, I for one know that wearing makeup and taking drugs aren’t linked, but I understand they want to give swimming a good reputation.
For me, this is all a bit too far. Where do you stand on the issue?
