Who doesn't love a good smoky eye in the first place? It is a look that stands the test of time!! This is the one makeup look that my husband actually requests sometimes. He never says, "I want to see a bright red mouth," or "do something colorful," it's always the smoky eye.
My one rule when I wear this eye look, whether it be subtle or dark and dramatic, it should always be paired with a neutral more subdued mouth. We're not trying to knock people over with loads of makeup, which is what would happen with a dark mouth and these eyes. My focus is always for the person's natural beauty to shine THROUGH the makeup, the focus should not BE the makeup.
I found this image of beautiful Lea Michele after I did my look, which ended up being similar to my perfect makeup combo! I just had to include it bc it supports my theory that this look never fails. Lea's makeup is always spot on, simple, elegant, and well blended! If you click here , it will take you to la belle et le blog (another new fave blog of mine!), which will tell you the exact products her makeup artist used on her to get this look.
The products that can get you my look are:
EYES. MAC shadow in "blanc type" along the brow bone. Bobbi Brown shadow in "slate," used from lash to right above the crease and drag into the inner corner of the eye socket. Too Faced shadow in "sexpresso" used along the upper and lower lash line. Real Colors hydra eyes waterproof gel eye liner in color "brown and dirty" along the upper lash line. L'Oreal Paris Voluminous mascara in "very black."
I took the slate color in pretty far into the inner corner of the eye to exaggerate the smoky look without piling on a ton of color.
SKIN. Avon MagiX Cashmere Finish Liquid Foundation in "natural beige." MAC bronzing powder in "golden." Cover Girl and Olay concealer in "corrector."
CHEEKS. Sonia Kashuk blush in "melon." Bobbi Brown shimmer brick in "pink quartz" along the tops of my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose- just a little!!
LIPS. Lancome L'Absolu Rouge lipstick in "luxe" (the perfect beigey taupe!) with L'Oreal Infallible lipgloss in "barely nude" applied in the center of the lips.
If you want to see another more "shimmery" smoky eye, you can go here to see my Sandra Bullock version. Don't worry, it still follows me one rule of neutral lips with darker eyes;-)
