The Art Of The Sephora Perfectionist Sponge

Posted Aug 15 2013 7:51am
I use brushes to apply foundation to my clients, yet I love a good sponge for my personal foundation application.  I can't really explain why, but the feel of the right makeup instrument is everything depending on what product you are applying, what area of the face, and who you are applying it to.

This Perfectionist Sponge by Sephora is taking the process to a whole other level, $12.

Excuse the beat up box - it traveled in my suitcase from NYC (blog to come).

This isn't your ordinary triangle or round sponge, obviously.

The shape had me so intrigued at my visit to Sephora, I had to chunk down the 12 bucks just to try it.   This instrument definitely makes getting in the nooks and cranny's of the face easier in every way.  The super skinny tip was great for right in the tear duct area and around the nose for my concealer and the rounder shorter side was good for foundation application everywhere else.  It seems a bit awkward at first when using, but got comfortable only a couple uses later.  To do the larger parts of the face, you have to hold it more sideways than straight on.

I just hope the tip of the sponge stays as pointed after multiple uses. We will see.  And that plastic holder with the suction cup is brilliant as I attached it to my mirror and it keeps this sponge from getting beat up in my drawers or makeup bag.

Have you tried this funky shaped sponged yet?
