As always, I write about natural skin care, so I can’t pass up the amazing plant of aloe vera. I finally took a sprout of aloe vera from my friend’s mother to grow it myself. I proudly placed it on my windowsill amongst other helpful plants, and I can’t wait to pick a leaf to use for my skin care needs!
While I was doing research on aloe vera, I found out that one of the greatest benefits of aloe vera is that it contains 75 different nutrients, including amino acids, calcium, magnesium, sodium, vitamins, enzymes, nitrogen, polysaccharides, and other components to make it a miracle beauty herb. Aloe vera also contains eight essential amino acids, which aren’t produced by the human body and must be taken in as a food or drink.
Aloe vera has powerful antioxidant properties. Vitamins A, C, and E provide aloe vera’s antioxidant activity and neutralize free radicals. When used daily, the antioxidant benefits of aloe vera can have a huge impact on the appearance of aging in an individual, as well as their overall well-being.
The extract of aloe juice will open and cleanse the pores, hydrate and tighten the skin, and easily and deeply penetrate the skin to restore the metabolism. This process will stimulate cellular regeneration and reduce inflammation and irritation. Therefore, any creams containing aloe vera are recommended to be used before sun exposure.
Aloe vera is also often used with great results in treating wounds, bruises, skin eruptions, allergies, and burns because of its antibacterial and antiseptic benefits. In particular, aloe vera will help to reduce inflammation when applied to the skin topically. This will help to minimize pain and increase circulation by flushing away dead tissue.
If you are looking for a product based in aloe to powerfully affect the skin to reduce inflammation and irritation, it will also provide healing benefits to reduce wrinkles, allergies, and swelling in the skin. Any products used should be at a concentration of 20% aloe vera at the minimum, and aging skin will require a higher concentration of a minimum of 25% aloe extract.
How to Prepare Aloe for Usage
Always check the end of the aloe leaves. When the tips begin to dry out, the leaves will be ready to use, and the aloe juice will have the most power. Leaves should be at the moderate length of a minimum of 15 cm, and they should also be thick and fleshy. After collecting the leaves, they cannot be kept for more than 3 to 4 hours, or they will lose their medicinal benefits.
If you do not want to prepare aloe juice every time that it is needed, it can be preserved. To do this, mix the juice with spirits in the ratio of 8:2, and store it in the refrigerator at a temperature of no more than 15°C.
