Short Review + Tutorial: Paul and Joe Eye Gloss

Posted May 06 2009 12:00am
The last product picked up from the Paul and Joe Warehous Sales was the Eye Gloss. I didn't have much colors to choose from so I got the 03 Champagne Brown, which was the only warm shade available. With the name "Eye Gloss", I was imagining a glossy-eyed effect but what turned out was slightly different. It isn't a bad thing but just unexpected. Again, check out the packaging -- to die for!

Read on for the review and a short day makeup tutorial. Got my hair trimmed.

Paul and Joe Eye Gloss is basically cream to powder eyeshadow in a lipgloss-like tube. The cream feels very liquid and blends with ease as it turns into powder. This gives instant color, shimmer and dimension to the lids. Crease-resistant and long-wearing, this cream eyeshadow works excellently as a base lid color to blend with other powder eyeshadows. I like using this on my rush days. The doe-foot applicator seems to deposit too much product and doesn't help to blend so I only use it to dab on the color then use my finger to blend.

All in all, a pretty decent product but wasn't quite the "Eye Gloss" that I was hoping for. The colors are also quite limited and most are cool tones. Any suggestions on a proper eye GLOSS? I tried the DIY method with Vaseline and the creasing was utterly unbearable.

After prepping lid with eyeshadow primer, swipe on some Eye Gloss. Then, blend towards the crease with finger. Apply highlight shade on the rest of the lid. Following that, line bronze eyeliner thickly on the upper lash line.

Apply shimmering brown (Spellbound) eyeshadow on half of the lower lash line and the highlight color on the other half. Line the lower portion of the upper lash line with bright blue eyeliner (Blue Peep). Finish off with mascara.

Not much difference to the hair. It just looks more like a bob now. Hmm...
