Review :: Sodashi Rejuvenating Face Mist + Sodashi Rejuvenating Serum

Posted Jun 03 2011 10:51am

Sodashi is a luxury natural skincare brand born in Australia in 1999 and a cult favorite in spas across Europe and Asia for over a decade though not well known here in the U.S. yet.  The brand holds a philosophy richly steeped in Ayurveda, Naturopathy and aromatherapy and is used and sold in 25 Four Seasons Hotels in other countries.  Their packaging is just gorgeous - chic and modern; dark violet glass that appears black with white lettering printed directly on the glass, no labels.  The product boxes are 100% recycled and each one contains a batch number so you know exactly when the product was made and when it will expire which I find entirely helpful. With over 120 SKUs in the line there is something for every skin type and those with a lot of extra cash flow.. As I know by now, high quality and cheap are usually mutually exclusive when it comes to truly effective, high performing natural skincare.

Sodashi Rejuvenating Face Mist $60

I'm addicted to this product.  The smells is utterly intoxicating and since I know I have a tendency to go wild with face sprays or mist, I'm trying to use this sparingly, but it's so difficult!   This smells of real pure rose with a delicate hint of spice, which must be the sandalwood.  A have a few rose products in my test queue right now and none of them compares to this.  The others must be a different rose variety because I smell a hint of onion mixed with the rose, which sounds really odd, but true.  This doesn't have that aroma at all and smells just like a rose in a garden.  I've noticed a substantial increase in the hydration of my facial skin since I've been using this.  I love using it on hot days as well as it's entirely refreshing.

Ingredients: aqua (purified water), rosa damascena (damask rose hydrosol), alcohol (ethanol, pure cane spirit), soy lecithin, tocopherol (vitamin E), prunus dulcis (almond oil polyglycerol), aniba rosaeodora (rosewood), citrus grandis (grapefruit seed extract), pelargonium graveolens (geranium)*, santalum album (sandalwood). *certified organic

Sodashi Rejuvenating Serum $130

This is my new favorite facial serum.  It is very light gold in color and has a very subtle spicy slash almost nutty aroma and is an absolute dream for my dry skin.  Dream!  This should come as no real surprise to me when I look at the ingredient deck because it's loaded with ultra-hydrating oils, but for some reason I was surprised and thrilled with the results and expertly crafted formulation.  I only use this at night because it's a little too heavy for daytime use for me right now, especially in the summer, though I imagine I will gladly welcome it for both day and night during winter months when I experience insanely parched skin.

When I wake up each morning after using this my skin feels not only completely and entirely moisturized but more plump if that's possible, like fine lines have been smoothed out.  With other serums it's not unusual for me to use  2-3 drops, but I use only 1 single drop of this each night which means this 1 ounce bottle will likely last 3 months, possibly more.  This also calms my skin.  Because I'm continually testing new product and my eating habits are not always the same, my skin does have times when it just freaks out.  After a few weeks of using and loving this product, I decided I could move on to other products in my testing queue, but when I did my skin went haywire and was not happy about the change.  So I went back to using this and it was happy with me again.  It provides intense moisture, calms redness, tames breakouts and made my skin look and feel more youthful.  What more could I ask for?

Ingredients: macadamia integrifolia (macadamia oil), prunus armeniaca (apricot kernel oil), persea gratissima (avocado oil)*, centella asiatica (centella oil), daucus carota sativa (carrot oil), tocopherol (vitamin E), cymbopogon martinii (palmarosa)*, boswellia carterii (frankincense), santalum album (sandalwood), rosa damascena (damask rose)*. *certified organic
