"RMK's signature natural and glowing complexion is now available in powder form, with innovative technology that layers two different powders into one foundation cake. By layering pearlescent particles on top of the powder, we can now achieve a natural and glowing finish which was previously only possible with the Liquid Foundation."
I believe I've found my favorite powder foundation EVER. Liquid foundation was always my prefered choice because most times my skin's too dry to take powder and I love the glowiness from liquid foundation. Now with RMK Powder Foundation EX, I can have the same glowy finish of liquid but with the convenience of powder.
Read on for the review and comparison with the RMK Liquid Foundation. Packaged in a matte silver casing, it sure looks a lot more elegant than the previous RMK Powder Foundation N. Behold, my finger print that I didn't think would get captured by the camera.
In the pan is 2/3 powder foundation and 1/3 pearlescent powder. The sponge holder is next to the pan with a huge mirror in the casing.
The shade I'm using is 103L, which makes my skin look brighter. Shade 103 would be a more accurate match for me. Formula contains SPF24 PA++.
After prepping with a face primer, the powder foundation is applied with a sponge then followed with a layer of the pearlescent powder using a brush or sponge.
Unlike most of my powder foundation experiences, this powder feels creamy on the skin without looking powdery at all. It blends beautifully and has nicely buildable coverage.
Initially applied, the finish is already very pretty but still slightly dry compared to liquid foundation. It's after 2 hours that the foundation starts to look its best. The color would have settled and formula combined with natural oils, the dewy finish becomes more outstanding but never oily-looking. I find the powder foundation to last longer than the liquid foundation in terms of shine control. After a good 7 hours, there was only some slight shine on the nose and it was easily touched up without looking blotchy. This showed that the powder foundation did not oxidize much.
The liquid can achieve more coverage, of course, but this one gives sufficient coverage for me. The pearlescent powder has very tiny shimmer particles in it that are almost invisible to the naked eye so that you won't get chunky glitter. All it gives is a gorgeous glowing finish. It's kinda like my favorite e.l.f. Healthy Glow Powder but up a few notches.
I was never fully satisfied with RMK Liquid Foundation due to the shine and oxidation but I seriously have no complaints for the Powder Foundation EX. Well, except for the price. A possible drugstore dupe would be the new L'Oreal White Perfect Pearl Foundation Compact which has a pearl highlighter in the pan. I'm not sure if that would give a similar effect since its pinkish, has bigger glitter particles and meant for highlighting rather than creating dewiness. If anyone has tried the L'Oreal version, do let me know if gives a similar effect.
Retails at RM220 with casing and RM135 for the refil.
