Review :: Phoenix Botanicals Wild Rose Lip Balm Made With Organic Ingredients In New York

Posted Sep 14 2011 5:36pm

How cute is this packaging?! Have you ever seen anything like it?  I surely never have. At least not for a lip balm.  Forget plastic, this baby is all paper and it kinda reminds me of a Push-Up Pop. The cool thing is that this is entirely biodegradable and what's more is that inside of the 1930s-vibe exterior resides a really great all-natural lip balm.  Moisturizing but light, this isn't a super thick emollient balm for the driest of lips or severest of climates, just right for everyday wear in moderate climates.  I would say former or current Chapstick fans would likely be fans of this, at least in terms of the weight and glide qualities of it.  Definitely not of the taste, which is a good thing.

The taste/scent is subtle, but distinctly rose and quite pleasant and there is nothing in this you would want to eat {unless of course you're vegan, due to the beeswax}.  This balm has been traveling with me for the last month or so and I'm a fan!  I've even used it on my cuticles and it works nicely there too.  I've had several people ask me about the mysterious paper tube when I whip it out of my purse and I'm happy to do a little push up/down demo for them.  And as small of a detail as it is, it made me smile to see striped white and pink Japanese paper tape on my tube.  Yes, I admit I'm both easy to please and hard to please all at the same time.  I'm also thinking these would be great for stocking stuffers, no?

Phoenix Botanicals is created in small batches by a herbalist in New York.
