Of course my eyes and ears are drawn towards that which is fig but that has no bearing on whether I'll like it or not. I'd never heard of this particular oil so my interest was definitely piqued. From the moment I used it I knew it was special. Organic fig seed oil could very well be the new 'it' oil, or at least it should be. The aroma, feel and results of La Bella Figura's Organic Barbary Fig Seed Oil all surpassed my experience with the ever popular argan oil, although more costly. Perhaps it's because it has a much higher Vitamin E content than argan. My skin is noticeably smoother and seemed to tone it out and really provides great hydration. There is a noticeable moisture barrier that fuses itself to and in the skin upon application. My skin seemed to have evened out in terms of tone and color and if my eyes aren't fooling me, wrinkles seem to have smoothed out as well.
I'm usually drawn to a combination of oils for my skin but this certified solitary oil is awesome. No idea why it's called barbary fig seed oil since it doesn't come from fig fruit. Perhaps it's because the thought of cactus and face in the same sentence doesn't sound very appealing. Since this is a single origin oil, you aren't getting anything but the pure unadulterated oil, and as such, no other ingredients are in the mix to mask or enhance it's scent. I've never really smelled anything else like it so it's difficult to explain or compare its aroma. Pure (non-deodorized) argan oil has a very distinct nutty aroma and this doesn't smell like that at all. What comes to mind without editing my thoughts is that it's a combination of burnt sugar and an old-school pink eraser. Is that weird? I don't think it's a bad or displeasing scent, just different. My sniffer has been highly sensitive these days so perhaps you will smell something entirely different.

Normally I prefer creams for my eye area so I wasn't sure whether I'd like La Bella Figura's Decouverte Under Eye Repair Serum but of course I gave it a go. First, if you're going to have an eye oil then rollerball application is a must. I like that it limits contamination, the metal ball feels cool and it dispenses the right amount since I don't want an oily mess up in my eyes or contacts. After my nightly shower I applied a small amount of serum to under my eyes and on my lids. It didn't feel cool or like it was "working" right after application but when I woke up the next morning I could definitely tell a difference. It was as if I had gotten a really good nights sleep.
The delicate area under my eyes that has turned tissue paper thin in recent years looked moisturized and my circles seemed less dark. I thought maybe it was a fluke so I kept using it over and over for several months (still am!) and my skin just loves this. I'm sure it has much to do with the high level of Omega 3s in this product which help to smooth fine lines and heal skin. When I don't use I can really tell a difference. I only use a tiny amount so while this bottle is pricey, I'm sure it will last quite a long while, approximately 6+ months. The beautiful thing about this oil is the amazing concoction of ingredients. There really isn't anything in this glass bottle that aren't skin-loving, beneficial ingredients and you won't find even a hint of a preservative since 100% oil products don't need them.
This oil is a green/gold color and the dominate scents that jump out at me are palmarosa and lavender. Very calming. I recommend using this before bed after you've washed your face. If you also want to apply it in the morning, make sure you leave plenty of time (15-20 mins) in between application and when you apply makeup otherwise your under eye concealer could easily slide off your face. So, apply this to damp skin, do your hair, get dressed and then do your makeup. This bottle also travels well since it has a nice firm twist top. I've taken it on several trips thus far and never had an issue with leaking.
