Nail Game and Vintage Glam

Posted Nov 01 2011 12:00am
I gave in to my curiosity about the half moon manis I've seen floating around online. After a trip to the drugstore to pick up some page reinforcers (those little white stickers shaped like donuts), putting on a movie, and setting up my nail goodies on the coffee table, I ended the night with this...

Zoya Moxie, layered with American Apparel Hassid

Not too bad, but I'll have to put the stickers on lower next time. You can also use regular dot labels or those French manicure guides if you have them laying around...or you can freehand the lines if you're really skilled! This week I'm sporting rainbow leopard print (white base stamped with leopard Konad stamp in Hassid, dotted with OPI I'm Indi-a Mood for Love, Essie Tart Deco, Sally Girl Sweet Pea, China Glaze Secret Peri-winkle, and American Apparel African Violet).

My Halloween weekend was pretty quiet...MG travels down to Florida for a music festival around this time, so I played with my makeup and created a sort of pinup look, complete with winged liner, false lashes, and vampy lips...

I used half lashes just to see how I could handle wearing them, and went without the mascara since I was just hanging out at home. The lashes were surprisingly comfortable! I credit that to the lash glue I used - the Revlon lash glue comes with a brush, so it's really easy to coat the band, and you don't have to wait for the glue to get tacky before applying them.

For my lips I dabbed the tiniest bit of Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Vintage - a deep merlot burgundy - with a bit of NARS gloss in Greek Holiday for shine. I applied the lip tar with a brush after outlining my lips with a pencil, and blended Greek Holiday on top. It's been months since I've tried wearing a lip tar, and they don't mess around with staying power! My lips were stained a lovely berry shade after eating dinner, and it took a little work with some makeup remover to get all of it off before taking off the rest of my makeup.

In an unrelated note, please stop by the DC Bijou blog for a giveaway - I'm adding fabric pouches to my online shop, and I'm going to be giving away 2 pouches along with sheetmasks, makeup, and earrings/hair accessories!
