Must Have :: Bubble + Bee's New Pit Putty Organic Deodorant {Review}

One of my dreams has just come true. It's a small dream, but a dream nonetheless.

For years and years I had searched the health food store over for a natural deodorant that actually worked. My mom and my sister have done the same. Between the three of us, I'm sure we have covered almost the entire natural deodorant industry in our search for great results. There have been a few along the way that seemed hopeful, but after a hot day or an awkward encounter the results were less than stunning.

Antiperspirants have made their way through the headlines and forwarded emails due to their link to breast cancer. With the use of parabens and aluminum (known estrogen mimickers), these staples in American medicine cabinets have been getting some negative attention for a few years now. The FDA originally denied any and all claims that antiperspirant use causes breast cancer, now they are saying that the studies are "inconclusive". There seems to be a general agreement however that the combination of underarm shaving and antiperspirant is linked to the increase of breast cancer in some women. Yikes! While I do my best to live naturally, one thing I don't think I could give up is shaving. (I don't think my husband would go for it either!) So, I have done what I can do to make sure what I slather on my pits is free from any artificial nasties, but it has come at a price - paid for by my olfactory system.

A few weeks ago, my husband and I decided to try yet another natural deodorant. I admit, we were skeptical that it would actually be effective, but we had nothing to lose (we had been stinkin' for years.) Bubble & Bee has answered my prayers with their new Pit Putty and I couldn't be more thrilled. My package arrived right before a sweltering heat wave hit here in California, so we knew we would be able to give this stuff an honest trial. On one day in particular, when I spent the day in a 92 degree house with two babies (it was 113 outside) I gave up hope that my Pit Putty would actually stand up to the challenge. I smelled my pits on the way home (hoping no one was looking) and to my amazement - nothing! I got home and asked my husband about the status of his pits after working in the same high temperatures - he had the same story. We were both a little stunned.

It does take a little retraining to learn how to apply Pit Putty, since it is not your typical deodorant. It is powdery when applied and you don't need to keep wiping up and down, up and down a thousand times. Actually, you just swipe it a couple of times and gently rub it in with your fingertips and, viola! You're ready to face the day. (Seriously, the entire day.) Unlike conventional clear deodorant and 'clear drying' antiperspirant, this stuff will make an appearance on a black shirt, so use a little bit of caution when dressing. I think it's well worth the sacrifice.

One thing I have to point out here is that this stuff is completely pure - nothing sketchy to be found - which is more than a lot of "natural" deodorants can claim. (I know, sometimes it seems you can never win.) Stephanie Greenwood, the founder of Bubble & Bee Organic, has set the bar unbelievably high with her miraculous deodorant. The ingredients in Pit Putty are as simple as: Arrowroot powder, Extra Virgin Coconut oil, Lemon and Clove essential oils - all of which are 100% organic. Seriously! That's it! I think anyone would feel okay about putting that in their pits.

Even though my husband and I have had great results with Pit Putty, everyone's body chemistry is different. That's precisely why Bubble & Bee offers a guarantee on their deodorant. So if you don't have the same luck with finding the deodorant love of your life the first time, they will help you find a formulation that works specifically for you. I don't think you'd get that kind of service from Secret...do you?

As you can tell, I'm a little excited about this new find and I could not wait to share it with all of you. If you are disenchanted with natural deodorants, or are taking baby steps to stop using conventional odor protection - look no further! Bubble & Bee is your dream come true.

Not sure how i feel about a powder deodorant, might be a little more messy then I need. The natural deodorant I'm using works really well and it's great for sensitive skin too. Believe me I break out into a rash from everything.
