Monday’s Cut: New Top Model in Britian to Challenge Fashion Boundaries

Did you see this post on NY Mag’sThe Cut? Britian has a new Top Model reality series called, “Britain’s Missing Top Model.” The premise is that the entire cast of models competing have a disability, which producers hope will challenge and push the boundaries of the fashion industry.
But what floored me is Marie O’Riordan, editor of British Marie Claire’s statement:
“When I first heard about the programme, my immediate thought was would it all be women in wheelchairs,” she says. “And I knew that if it was going to be some sort of freak show, I didn’t want to be involved.”
Women in wheelchairs are freakshows? Are you kidding me? That has got to be the most ignorant statement that I’ve ever heard. Do you agree?
