I'll be reviewing and swatching L.A. Colors' 5-Color Metallic Eyeshadow Palette in Tease and NYX Eyeshadow Trio in Lake Moss.
L.A. Colors 5-Color Eyeshadow
I was looking forward to this palette because I've been looking high and low for a striking orange shadow color. But alas, I was once again unlucky. The orange in this palette was a dull beigey color. The green was the worst color because once the top layer was swatched off, the actual shadow color surfaced which is a very dull green. However, the Pink and Blue was very striking and well-pigmented. The yellow is nothing spectacular. The texture of these shadows aren't too smooth so it'll require some blending. They can be used wet and the color payoff is better when used wet. I'll probably buy this again but maybe just for fun. It's not a very desirable product.
My Rating: 2.5/5
NYX Trio Eyeshadow
This was the reason to buy from cherryculture.com in the first place was for NYX because it was such a highly raved about brand and of course, the prices were quite good too. According to some reviews, the eyeshadow from the trio isn't as good as the single eyeshadow and I'll have to agree with that. The eyeshadow from the trio just isn't as smooth and pigmented as the single. Reviewing this palette by itself, I'd say that it was a pretty good buy. The colors give a variety of smokey shades and the amount of shimmer is just nice enough for a glamorous touch. However, it wasn't as pigmented so I'm skeptical about how the brighter-colored trio would be. This shadow can be used wet and the effect of it wet is gorgeous (the swatch below the 3 colors is used wet). Very smooth. The packaging isn't too bad either as you can see the colors of the trio but not the entire pan and it comes with a decent mirror inside. I'd try more colors from this trio.
