I have a rash-type infection on my thumb precisely where there is hair follicles. Should I take antibiotics?

It doesn't itch, but just feels raw.  It has been there since Thursday and I'm slowly starting to notice red spots on my other fingers where there is hair follicles on that hand (I have kind of hairy hands).  Polyporin doesn't seem to do much, but Calamine makes it feel better and gets it mildly scabby.  Nothing seems to make it go away.  I looked up cellulitis, but I have none of the other symptoms (no fever, swollen glands etc.).  The skin just feels raw.  I'm worried about it spreading.  I apreciate whatever help you can offer
