Introducing Contributor Brana Chereshskaya! Brana is a former student of mine from my days teaching Social Media at FIDM, has worked at Murad Skincare, and is passionate about makeup. She loves finding dupes for high-end makeup products and enjoys celebrity red carpet breakdowns to “get the look.” Brana will be scouring the web each week, looking for the best posts, noteworthy news, and cool product launches.
This week Urban Decay has gotten us all sorts of excited with the announcement of their upcoming release, Perversion Mascara . Perversion was a name that Urban Decay has used before on their 24/7 Eye Liners–with the Perversion shade being the blackest black they have. I can hardly wait to test out the Perversion Mascara and see if it lives up to the rest of the Perversion legacy. Perversion Mascara costs $22 and is available July 13th.
A post I stumbled across this week of a completely different spectrum comes from beauty blogger Gemma, known as Gemsmaquillage on YouTube. She’s been in the blogging world for years and discusses in a heartfelt manner her recent struggles about being herself on her blog and finding her voice again. (Note from Nadine: Man, oh, MAN did I ever relate to this post. It’s well-worth a read.) Major kudos to Gemma for being so open and honest about her thoughts in such a public space. Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for her blog.
Well, this is the kind of news I like to hear! We all know that tanning beds are probably one of–if not the most harmful–type of “beauty treatment” out there. We also know that the FDA is not always cracking down on things as quickly as they should. Thankfully, they are starting to make some progress in this direction and are forcing tanning manufacturers to put a warning label on the devices to discourage the use of tanning beds by anyone under the age of 18. Hopefully this is the beginning of the elimination of them all together, since you can get a nice and safe tan in a bottle or by going to a spray tan professional. No need to give yourself a higher risk for cancer!
