As much as I love wearing dark polish when the weather gets colder, sometimes it's not always work appropriate - at least in my opinion. I've spent the better part of the week trying to dress the part and present a more professional image (more details on my private blog), so last Sunday I got rid of the dark purple, trimmed my nails, and tried out Essie's True Love.
And I love it!
I never understood why so many people loved this nail polish, and obviously now that I've tried it, I've become a big fan. If you're looking for a delicate, sheer touch of glossy color on your nails, you need to find some Essie. According to Essie's site, True Love is a "powered-up pastel pink with an emphatic hint of coral" and the description is spot on. In the bottle it's a fairly bright pink, but two coats creates a really healthy shade on your nails. It's very subtle and delicate.
I applied a nail strengthening base coat, two coats of True Love, and a top coat from Orly..something to keep the polish from chipping. After a week of frequent hand washing (eww germs), cold air, and banging away on a keyboard, the polish on the tips of my nails have chipped away a bit, but you can hardly tell. My cuticles are more noticeable at this point :)
It was well worth the $8 to get this little bottle of nail polish - it will be my go-to whenever I need to look polished, professional, and ladylike. I'm still going to turn to my dark purples and wines, but True Love adds a nice change. I'm sure I'll check out more shades of their polishes in the future.
