Chemical Peel Report: Day Three - The Serious Peeling Begins

Posted Jun 12 2009 5:26am

As always I will lead off stating that if you haven't read my prior blog posts on the subject, go back and read those first.  I recently did a chemical peel in order to remove some sun damage from my face.  A chemical peel is a very serious procedure for those who have gone to the moon and back with their skin care regimen.  The chemical peel essentially burns off an entire layer from the face, removing all of the dead skin cells in the process and paving the way for new skin underneath.

I was going to post again last night as I peeled like crazy.  However, I don't think it's necessary to blog three times per day about the process even if it is one of the zaniest things I have ever gone through.  As I reported in my last post, I did develop a slight skin peel around my mouth. Well, last night as I watched the Lakers and Magic duel in a heated game 5, my nose area started to peel.  It was just as described, with large "sheets" of skin falling off in clumps.  I do not enjoy the dead skin cells floating and wafting around my face and hanging on for dear life as they do, so I normally follow the advice I was given and use the best moisturizer possible in order to help the process along.

By using the moisturizer exclusively, I was able to see the dead skin cells ball together and fall off quicker, instead of linger on my face for the world to see.  I have to admit it is sort of gross seeing the face literally fall off, sort of like Nick Cage in the movie Face-Off.  Although I will say that the new skin below, from what I can see, looks quite fresh and very smooth, without all the nasty wrinkle sun damage that I use my Eite Eye Serum to attack and penetrate each day.  Of course, I still can't use any skin care products over the weekend other than the moisturizer that I was given along with the peel.  Dr. Kalil's moisturizer comes out in a gray color, almost like a cement.  It's very bizarre, but it's one of the best overall skin moisturizer's I have used to date.

As I enter what will be day three (after) the peel, I lok forward to keeping everyone up to date on my progress.  This certainly has been an experience, and I am hoping to power past the peeling stage so I can have new skin and that glowing look without all the dead skin cells hanging off my face for the whole world to see.

Thanks for reading!
