“Detox” diet after “hungry” holidays

Posted Jan 05 2010 8:00am 1 Comment

Happiness that you felt during the holidays may be replaced with a suffering organism. With difficulties in digesting food, not to mention some extra gained pounds. Here is a super diet, that will bring your organism back to life! After the “hungry” Holidays, you need to give your stomach a period to rest and to return to its original state, removing toxins through seven days of diet.

Daily rituals

Every diet begins with this first step. This is it:  in the morning, on awakening, a glass of water (at room temperature) is perfect to help purge the body.

The diet is proposed by Dr. Neal Barnard known American physician,  and it is a system completely free of fat (except the positive contribution of olive oil that reduces cholesterol). The diet is calculated for lose-weight-after-holidays five days. My personal recommendation is to start from Saturday (not Monday how you are probably used to) because you will be more convinced to eat healthy during the weekend, otherwise you might be tempted to eat junk food in your weekend free time.

FIRST DAY
Breakfast: one cup of boiled rice, a slice of toast with jam and orange juice.
Lunch: smashed potatoes with whole rice, broccoli, a slice of melon or any other fruit.
Dinner: pasta cooked with a teaspoon of olive oil, with two boiled potatoes.

SECOND DAY
Breakfast: a slice of toast and baked apple with cinnamon.
Lunch: vegetable soup, salad of green beans and carrots with a teaspoon olive oil, a baked apple.
Dinner: Spaghetti with zucchini, soup of vegetables, two fruits (you are allowed to eat any kind of fruit, but be careful with the bananas).

THIRD DAY
Breakfast: 2 slices of toasted graham and some honey.
Lunch: boiled vegetables, 2 slices of graham bread and one apple.
Dinner: stewed vegetables with a teaspoon of olive oil and a handful of boiled rice.

FOURTH DAY diet-after-holidays
Breakfast: a boiled potato, a slice of toast.
Lunch: stew vegetables, baked beans, a fruit salad.
Dinner: boiled potatoes and fresh carrots (good for your skin tone and beautiful eyes).

DAY FIVE
Breakfast: toast bread with marmalade, a baked apple with cinnamon.
Lunch: spinach with boiled rice, pineapple juice.
Dinner: boiled broccoli with a teaspoon olive oil and spices, two baked potatoes.

Food and exercises during the “detox” diet:

During this procedure is recommended for moderate physical activity: walking outdoors, jogging trails, bike rides. “Detox” diet is good and you can help it drinking herbal plant teas.. On awakening, drink a large glass of water as I mentioned earlier, between meals drink tea, (chamomile) and less coffee. “Detox” is stronger if you take vitamin C, zinc, chromium, calcium, magnesium, B Complex, potassium or eat nuts, red beet, almonds and dried fruits.

Excellent way to get your body back on track. This is a great way to detox the body. I try to eat like this everyday, I usually don't eat as many veggies as this diet says. Instead I go through a 10 day detox diet yearly. I usually lose several pounds each time i do it and a regain full energy levels. I talk about the diet here. Use whatever works best for you though.
