3 Holiday Beauty Tips from Carmindy

Posted Nov 28 2009 10:00pm

carmindy The holidays have finally hit and parties abound this month! I know that I am not a natural when it comes to applying my makeup and I often turn to my makeup artist friends for helpful beauty tips. This time I chose to tap Carmindy from TLC’s What Not to Wear for her 3 best holiday beauty tips.

1- Get your face and body glowing by applying my Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Luminizing Face Primer. This light reflecting cream will add radiance to your skin and create a smooth as glass finish to the skin. I like to apply it under foundation on the face and also all over the body for skin that is luminescent and so soft to the touch.

2- Rock a bold lip color this season by choosing the perfect red lipstick. If your fair go for blue based reds, medium skin tones look best in true reds like Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Color Comfort Lip Color in Soft Red and redheads should stick with brick and tomato reds. Dark skin should go for blood reds.

The best way to apply a modern red lip is to first apply a highlight lip pencil around the perimeter of the lips. I love Guerlain Cupidon Lip Pencil. This will highlight the lips making them look full and fabulous. Now apply a lip stain like Benefit’s Benetint as a base. This way if your lipstick wears off there is backup color so the lips will always look good. Next apply a moist red lipstick and keep the rest of the face simple. I like to pair this look with just a highlight shadow, black liner on the upper lashes only and a healthy dose of black mascara.

3- Go for the glitz. Try a metallic smokey eye for a festive flirty look. Choose a fab shadow like a shimmering charcoal and sweep it across the lid and smudge it under the lower lash line. Apply a highlight under the brow and on the inner corners of the eyes. Add a spot of silver loose shadow like Makeup Forever Star Powder in Silver on the center of the lid and line the upper lash line with black pencil. Apply black mascara and keep cheeks and lips neutral with nude shades that glow.

Don’t forget that Carmindy has 2 books out that are worth picking up:
