I am so happy that it's Friday again! I have lots to do this weekend - the last of my Christmas shopping, wrapping presents, finishing up Christmas cards, cleaning up the apartment - but tonight I think I'll enjoy the fact that I can do all of those things on Saturday, spend the night relaxing as much as possible. Therapeutic eye mask will be in order; my left eye has been twitching for the past two days. No one else can really see it, but the inner portion of my eyelid twitches every couple of minutes and it makes it difficult to focus on anything. Hopefully an eye mask and wearing glasses this weekend will take care of it.
Continuing with my posts of favorite products this year, here are my favorite neutral shadows! These are the eyeshadows that get the most use from me, since I wear them during the week for work
Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow (top left, $17)
A matte, buff nude eyeshadow that nearly matches my lid color - it's just a shade or so darker, which might sound counter-intuitive, but I absolutely love wearing this on my lids! I actually bought it because I couldn't get my hands on a Naked palette (and still can't, Urban Decay needs to work overtime to make a few more so I can get one!), and Naked and Buck looked really interesting to me. The formula is really smooth for a matte shadow, and blends well with other eyeshadows. It's becoming harder to find, so I plan on snagging a backup of this as soon as the holidays are over.
MAC Era (top right, $14.50)
Described as a soft golden beige with shimmer in a satin finish. It's a little cooler and lighter than the rest of my picks, but it's something I reach for more than some other neutral shadows.
MAC Soba (bottom left, $14.50)
Soba is a muted light brown with golden shimmer. It's a satin finish, so the shimmer isn't too obvious, and I really love using this during the week as a wash of color on my lids. It adds just enough depth to my eyes without having to use multiple shadows.
Wet N Wild Nutty (bottom right, $2)
A shimmery taupe, and at a really affordable price! This shadow feels like butter on my lids - no tugging, no swiping back and forth to get an even application of shadow - a good swipe across my lids is enough for a strong wash of color. It doesn't last all day if I don't use primer (but it wears off well, without any weird patches or smears), but if my lids are primed, this eyeshadow barely moves. Wet N Wild really improved their product line, and I'm impressed.
What were some of your favorite eyeshadows this year?
