Our son, Simon Lev , became suddenly ill when he was 4 months old and was diagnosed with Heart Failure due to a disease called Cardiomyopathy. We spent 4 months in the ICU with him and endured MANY ups and downs since that fateful day. Since August 1, 2008, we have faced a decision about a heart transplant, an ER visit for each of us, a gall bladder surgery, a forced quitting of a job and loads and loads of laundry. Simon is globally delayed, on many medications, and is fed by a feeding tube that was surgically implanted.
His Mommy, Laura, quit her job to be home with him since he's too medically fragile to be in daycare and his Mama, Jaime, works full time to support the family. We write about the profound, the tragic, the absurd and the mundane. Throughout it all, we have tried to maintain our sense of humor and grip on reality. This is our story...
