A while ago, a running buddy/co-worker of mine commented how he avoids reading product reviews on running blogs, claiming that the overwhelming majority of such so-called reviews range from moderately overstated to completely exaggerated. He definitely had a point because most test wearers are either sponsored by the company which provides the product and/or they feel obligated to portray their freebies in a positive light. So, when I received a pair of compression leg sleeves from Miami-based
Zensah to try out, I wanted to make sure I had ample of time to thoroughly test the product and be as honest as I can with my feedback.
According to Zensah's website, the Calf/Shin Recovery Leg Sleeves are made using a special knitting process and fabric to deliver isolated compression to the front area for shin support and back of the leg for calf support. The deep groove ribbing of the "dual-action" sleeve are designed to stimulate increased blood flow to the lower leg, thus transporting much needed oxygen to the muscles of the lower leg, which in turn promotes faster recovery of the muscles after work out. Also, the fabric is breathable and moisture-wicking, which helps regulate skin temperature, and is embedded with silver ions to fight off bacteria growth and thus odor.
I’ve been using and racing in Zensah’s Calf/Shin Recovery Sleeves for over a month. Not only have I had less calf and shin soreness after my hard runs, including a week where I did
three races, my legs recuperate better and faster. Despite increasing both intensity and mileage for my weekly runs, I have been free of calf and shin problems for more than 2 weeks (knocking on wood). Also, during my trails runs, I find the leg sleeves can come in handy as "protective" garment.

I have since bought two extra pairs of Zensah Calf/Shin Recovery Leg Sleeves from
Revel Sports (no shipping fee) as I find myself becoming addicted to the recovery leg sleeves. They’ve become as a true second-skin as I now wear them during training, recovery and sometimes during my travels.
So, if you're having calf and/or shin issues or experiencing tough recovery from hard workouts, you may want to try Zensah's Calf/Shin Recovery Sleeves. They really do seem to work as advertised, at least based on my experience thus far.
I wore Zensah Calf/Shin Recovery Leg Sleeves at the inaugural LiveStrong Challenge 5K where I set a 5K personal best of 19 min 45 sec (6:22 min/mile pace).
