You mean to say we’re related?

Well, since it’s Thankful Thursday (courtesy of the sweetest Jessie ), I thought I’d start out by saying a big THANK YOU to all of you for sharing your stories and offering you support the other day for my FreEDom post on anxiety . It’s something that more people struggle with than we realize and it’s not limited to one type. People experience it over a number of different things, not just food or EDs, and it’s nice to hear that I’m not alone, and hopefully it helped those of you who do struggle with it to realize it too.

Anyways, I have a bunch of things to brag about this week so that’s what I’m going to do. #sorrynotsorry. Lucky for me, today is another week of PMB thanks to Hollie , who came up with the idea. You should go read her blog if you don’t already (although a lot of you probably found mine from commenting incessantly on hers), she’s hilarious.


Physical- I didn’t talk about this on the blog but you may have seen it on twitter/DM… I had some pretty bad shin splints on Monday. Actually, they started Sunday after my tempo run and I could barely walk all afternoon. I had 8 miles planned for Monday but decided to be smart about it thanks to all of my blends and moved my rest day. While I will say I didn’t handle this unplanned rest day as well as I could have in terms of food, I ended it with a pretty awesome yoga session that more than made up for it. And after wearing compression socks for 48 hours, I woke up Tuesday morning feeling good as new. Not only was I able to get 6+ miles in, I also got my sweat on at 90 minutes of power yoga and an hour with my favorite zumba instructor. So taking that rest day was totally worth it. Especially since I woke up yesterday even better, good enough to bang out 10.5 miles AND another day of zumba. I’m in love with this no school-no internship schedule.

Mental- I talked about this a lot in Tuesday’s FreEDom post (see link above), so I won’t go into details again. I will say this, though. I’ve never wanted to be “normal” this much in my life. In the past, I would resort to overexercising to overcompensate for a bad eating day. Instead, I’m learning from my mistakes. Snacks and breakfast are my new best friend, the two things that were compromised most in the past. I’m in a much better place than I was before.


Brag- This one is totally random and something I’m truly proud of. My brother and I don’t have the greatest relationship. Actually, it’s pretty terrible most of the time. In the past, we lasted for a matter of hours when I first came home for breaks before fighting and jumping down each others throats all the time. Since I’ve been home (for a month now), we’ve probably argued a handful of times, and they lasted like 30 seconds. Our relationship has vastly improved and he’s even come to hang out with some of my friends on more than one occasion. I never thought I’d see the day where my brother and I could, dare I say it, become friends.
