Over the past few years I have put out a holiday gift guide and a stocking stuffer list for runners. I am reading from other columnists on my blog as well as elsewhere online of the ultimate gift ideas for runners this holiday season and I thought that I would join the party and throw my ideas out there. No, I don’t think that I am that important and my suggestions matter but maybe someone will read this and find some new ideas. Just as a side note, some of these products I have not tried, I’ve only read about them- so hopefully a certain fat jolly man in a red suit will be reading my blog.
Nike Filament Tights- So this is one of the items on the list that I currently own and help me make it through the cold weather months. I’ve tried many other brands of running tights but these just seem to fit so perfectly and are the perfect weight. If you go to the Nike website you can find these for an insanely reduced price of $29.97 (originally $58).
Oakley Half Jacket 2.0- I am very cheap when it comes to sunglasses as I seem to break or loose them within 8 seconds of spending the money. Although I have to now admit that having a sweet pair of running sunglasses is an absolute must. I’ve been wearing these Oakley glasses complements of Sunglasses Shop. They are absolutely insane. They sit on my big Italian nose perfectly without pinching, they don’t squeeze the side of my head when wearing a hat or visor and the polarized lenses keep my eyes relaxed even in the most harsh lighting conditions. Best of all, they don’t fog up- an issue I have had with other brands in the past. Yes, they are expensive but if you don’t sit on them or misplace them you will have them as part of your gear collection for a long time. Check them out at Sunglasses Shop .
Gift Certificates- I can say that I am a total junkie for gift cards and certificates. If I found a gift card from Dicks Sporting Goods in my stocking or a gift certificate for yoga classes or massages I would be absolutely thrilled.
Rad Dog Release and Run Leash- My dog is at the age where she absolutely loves coming on long runs with me. I usually take her out on my weekday 3 milers. The trails near my home are a combination of roads where she needs to be on the leash and park trails where she can run next to me without one. After much research online I have found the perfect leash, the Rad Dog Release and Run Leash. From Men’s Health “The Release ‘N Run frees you o f that minor burden by seamlessly combining the leash and the collar into one. Just pull on the handle and the leash extends, let it go and it retracts into the collar—all while your four-legged companion enjoys his new found freedom. Hook a dog loving runner up with this leash at the My Rad Dog website for $34.95.
#RunChat Car Sticker and Tattoos- Your runners stocking is not complete without these! Shameless plugging but I do have the sticker on both of my cars and I have rocked the #RunChat tattoo at recent races. Hook up yourself or your runner friend/family member with both of these. They are super cheap and can be bought at the #RunChat website .
Add to the list, what should we be buying friends and family for the holidays? Have you tried any of the products above? What are your reviews on them? Share your gift ideas and links.
