Yay, ran 3 miles yesterday...

The fall running season is finally here (well at least for now... this is Texas afterall).  The weather was nice (non-humid and slightly breezy) and it created a good backdrop for adding another mile to the regime. Since I have a 5K coming up, it's only appropriate to see if I can run the obligatory 3 miles.

To answer a previous question, I do a training program loosely based on running 3 times a week. Right now, it's running 2 miles at an average pace, speed running and walking for 2 miles and then doing a long run of 3 miles. Each week, you add a mile and eventually you get to your goal. :)

I'm not expecting any grand results for my upcoming race. If I can finish with a pace between 11 and 12 minutes a mile, that would be great. I can't wait for my post-workout treatment: a pedicure.

Running is a daunting activity that escapes my body's comprehension! It is something I could never do, as even as a skinny little 8-year-old kid, the race track they had us run around for gym class looked horrifyingly impossible. I am in awe of anyone who can run anywhere for any distance; my version of a run is more like a walk, I'm so slow! I suppose I'll never enter the local Road Race, something several my family members do each year, but I'm happy to leave that to those of you who have the talent for it! Congrats on your recent success!

HI. Good for you. I am trying to move up from brisk walking to running so to get over the plateau in my weight loss. But there is just so much pain in my ankle that I have gone back to walking. How do you deal with that?
