What's the best place to train for running on hills?

Posted by Marisa L.

I'm training for Hood to Coast and want to get some good hill work in. I know the Lyon street steps, but would rather run on gradual hills.

Strawberry Hill, GG Park. Strawberry Hill in Golden Gate Park (it's the big hill in the middle of Stow Lake). It's a dirt path, which means it's easier on your body, and a gradual steep incline of about 600 meters. I do at least 6 repeats -- run *hard* up the hill, take the steps down to recover. It's less time consuming than continuing down the hill, and a bit easier on the body.
