what are some options to stay fit while on weight bearing restriction and crutches?

I have recently been diagnosed with a severe stress reaction in my hip.  I am a 38 year old, female runner so would hate to lose my conditioning.  I am on crutches and have been restricted to non-weight bearing exercise for 6-8 weeks.

Maybe swimming? My wife was in physical therapy for several months, and they had her doing swimming with a long foam noodle. She would sit on the noodle and move her legs around. The noodle supported her weight in the water.
