Posted Oct 03 2010 6:20pm
“ Joe “: This is it, it is here. You made it! Now all you need to do is get up on race morning and get to the starting line. Before you pat yourself on the back remember that you still need to put your training to the test an actually run 26.2 miles. The training schedule this week is pretty light, it is meant to keep you fresh and sharp for race day. Do not worry about the low mileage, you have done all your work and you are ready to go.
This week we will post one tip a day for five days. It will help you prepare for race day and running the most successful marathon you possibly can.
“ Pro “: This week is going to be like nothing you have ever experienced. Even if you have tapered for a previous marathon, it is still awkward to do literally nothing in preparation for something huge and extremely difficult. Don’t let this week’s rest go by without savoring this time and soaking in the fitness that you have achieved.b Relax and TRUST in your training. As Colorado’s legendary cross country coach Mark Wetmore says, “The hay in in the barn!”
Take the week to create your final checklists and arrangements to ensure the race experience will be incredible for both you and your valuable supporters.
Look for important tips coming all week!
