Unhealthy food = slug!

I’m writing another post on food. Sorry, but I had an epiphany this morning that involved food and my weird, sleepy moods so I figured I could justify one more food post!

Remember my “Yay! I’m back on track” post from last week? There has been a change. I’m still on track, but I’m not feeling super awesome and excited about it. It took me three days of being extra tired and lazy to figure out why. The cause…my eating habits!

Now I do not track my daily food intake or calories or anything like that, but if I think back I notice a pattern for this week. I have been working a later shifts and this has been messing up my entire day – at least in terms of eating.

The last few days have looked something like this…

6-8am: get up and have granola bar or bowl of cereal
10:30am: yogurt with granola or apple with cheese stick
2-3pm: lasagna with veggies or ham and cheese sandwich for lunch
5:30pm: snack of crackers and cheese or popcorn
7:30pm: get home but not hungry for full meal so snack instead
9:30-10:30pm: head to bed

I also have to admit that there is additional snacking in there…it is the holidays and we are getting a smorgasbord of treats from our suppliers!

Am I getting enough calories…yay, definitely. How about enough nutrition…mmm, probably not. That is probably why I have been dragging for the last three mornings. I have been unnecessarily tired and unmotivated in the morning. Having a later work schedule that allows me to “sleep in” isn’t helping the situation.

I’m going to go out on a limb (a pretty sturdy limb) and say that all of this drag is caused by the fact I do not get enough nutrition in the evenings. This makes me sluggish and it makes my workouts suck. I can’t eat a lot before I go to spin or for a run because well…that never ends well, so I’m trying to perform well without the fuel needed. Not exactly efficient.

Today I’m going to make an effort to eat better and see how I feel on Friday morning…hopefully awesome because I am not skipping my spin class!

Oh, and speaking of fuel (sorta…) Chris’s car is acting up again. Gargh! Something about the engine light randomly coming on, then going off, then coming on…etc. This is really annoying. Chris’s car is the “new car” and if there is really a problem this time we will be putting more money into his new (and more expensive) car than into my plastic Saturn. How does that make sense exactly?
