Recently I have been paying more and more attention to what I put into my body at breakfast. In the past I remember getting to the office, ordering food with the rest of my colleagues and crushing a very unhealthy breakfast. On other days I would skip breakfast altogether and just wait for lunch. As I have become more and more of a runner over the past two years I have realized that breakfast is so damn important. I had to work hard to form better breakfast habits, and they have paid off by giving me more energy at the office and great fuel for the rest of the day. So here are some of the hot trends in my morning routine:
Chobani Greek Yogurt with Granola: If you have not heard about Chobani Greek yogurt, pay attention. This company uses all-natural products and do not rely on any artificial additives to get their fantastic tasting yogurt. They have some dude that works there named Mustafa Dogan who is their master Yogurt Maker. Who knew that title even existed! This guy custom blends special yogurts just for Chobani, and he is quite good at it. Chobani does not use any synthetic growh hormones and they use only real fruit and it has twice the protein of regular yogut. My favorite is the pomegranate yogurt with a little granola.
Kashi Go Lean with Silk Chocolate Soy Milk Light: We have written here about the benefits of Kashi, so I don’t need to go into it again. My twist is adding Silk chocolate soy milk. Those little nuggets of goodness are so sharp and rough that I need to make sure they don’t cut the roof of my mouth, so what better way than soaking them in chocolate milk. I have to admit that I am a sucker for chocolate and since eating Coco Puffs or Coco Krispies is just not in my cards anymore, this is an awesome substitute. Each bowl of Silk has as much calcium as milk, omega-3’s, antioxidants and high quality protein with no artificial flavors. For chocolate lovers it is a win/win.
