It's January 8th and so far I have logged...only about 38 miles.
When people learn of my marathon plans and ask how many miles I currently run on average, I sheepishly respond, "Only about six to eight each morning." Yes, I know it is a lot to be doing five days a week, but when I'm thinking in terms of the big picture (26.2 miles), it really does seem like "only six." Marathon #1 is only 15 weeks away and I'm going to have to really amp up my training runs pretty soon.
I currently run a maximum of five days a week.(Though if you live in New York and look out the window, you'll see that today is in fact a rest day.) I typically set aside exactly one hour (no more, no less) to run before I have to get ready and leave for work each morning. The attached image shows the current six mile loop I run though Astoria, my neighborhood in Queens.
One of these days, I'm going to have to sit down and map out some longer runs for the weekends. And planning is seriously the hardest part for me. Any tips??
