Tomorrow morning at 8:30AM I start off on the WTRS 21K at Bluejay Campground. My first race of the year (also a 21K) was at Boney Mountain in January where it took me 3:10 to finish. I'm sure of the comparison between the two races but I'd like to run sub 3 hours tomorrow. I have been training a lot more since then so we'll see how it goes. There is one climb that will suck the life right out of me - West Horsetheif. 1400' in about 1.4 miles. That's a 20% grade and it's rocky and exposed. If that climb doesn't eat me alive I should be able to reach my goal.
I signed up for the Zane Gray 50K today. This race takes place in 7 weeks. Yikes! I'll finish but I'd like to finish in less than 9 hours. I don't think 8 is realistic considering it's a net uphill race. I have 18, 21, 23, and 26 mile runs planned in the coming 4 weeks before I start to taper.
Happy Running & Dirty Feet,
Jessica
