To survive the distance, everyone fights

Posted Sep 09 2009 12:00am
Well here it is two weeks before what I hoped would be my peak race, the Philadelphia Distance Run. I sit here on the computer defeated in a haze of exhaustion. I have no idea what I'm exhausted from, but none the less I am. Having just taken a week off on my cruise (which was fun, but we'll never do carnival again) I should be well rested. Well, well-rested and rummed-up probably more accurately describes my return from vacation, but move forward I must. I was still able to get in 40 before leaving on vacation and I hit 44 the week I returned. This week, I'm 3 days into my week and I've already taken off my two allowable days. I have a feeling I am going to be busy running this weekend to make sure I can run the distance come PDR.

I'm excited for the runs though, my awesome running group Capital Area Runners are going to have a group of about 20 (so far) running and we're all going to hook up for some pre-race dinner! So even if I don't PR, I should have fun. I hate that I am already making allowances for not PR'ing, when I should be thinking positive thoughts that I should run well, even with the time off!

Anyway, what can I am already planning on how to make it to 44 miles with 4 days left. It actually seems workable! :)
