Three Things Thursday: Track Work, Long Run Plans, and a Sparkle Skirt

Posted Oct 06 2011 2:43pm

1) I had an amazing track workout last night.  I’ve been having a very hard work week and while going home and curling up in a ball on the couch with a glass of wine sounded like a great end to the day, I’m really happy I went to the track and ran hard enough that my legs are sore today.

We did 2 x 1600-800 and it went like this for me:

  • 400 Warm up – 10:45 pace
  • 1600 – 9:45 pace
  • 800 – 9:18 pace
  • 1600 – 9:52 pace
  • 800 – 9:21 pace

Total: 3.45 miles in 33:28 (9:41 pace). I need to work on not going out so hard on my first repeats and make sure I give myself a little room to get faster.  But this was exactly what I needed to relax a bit.

2) I’m still trying to figure out if I’m doing my long run on Saturday or Sunday morning.  I think I’d like to do 9 or 10 miles since the Baltimore Half Marathon is next week.  I am so excited.

Do you think it matters if I run on Saturday or Sunday? The race is next Saturday, October 15th.

3) Speaking of the Baltimore Half, my very favorite partner in crime, Suze , got me this beautiful bit of fun for the race:

Team Sparkle Skirt!

My very first Team Sparkle skirt! I need to reevaluate my shirt choice so I guess I’ll just have to go to Sports Authority this weekend and find a more pink Under Armour shirt.  Darn… shopping ;-)
