One- After 10 miles yesterday and 5 this morning (both in the rain) my legs are tired. The good news is tomorrow is a rest day so I plan to do a whole lot of nothing. From here on the training schedule consists of 20 milers and 12 milers on the weekends and taper that is somewhat nonexistant. I might have to do some tweaking (not a drug reference) because I'm going to New York my birthday weekend! I can get a run in on that weekend but 20 miles might be a bit rough. How many miles can one run in Central Park? I have no idea. I don't even know what Central Park looks like, but from everything I have seen on Law and Order I should pass about 10 dead bodies before I'm done.
Two- At the Rock N Roll Expo I bought a lifetime's supply week's worth of gu for fuel. I bought mostly strawberry banana and chocolate fudge, which are my favorite, but also snuck in a few new flavors to try. One of those was Espresso Love.
Because I run in the morning and I love espresso, this seemed like a good idea initially. Add to that the exhaustion I felt before my 10 miler and 2X the caffeine was all I needed to hear.
I only made it through half the gel before throwing it away. Something about espresso in gu form just doesn't gel with me (Eh? Eh? Get it? GEL with me! You got it.) Technically I guess I only got 1x the caffeine, so I could have just stuck to a normal flavor. Lesson learned.
Three- I have recently become addicted to Whole Foods' salad bar. Since joining the blogosphere I have slowly learned to like salads (oh, hey, peer pressure). Thanks to Janae's Salad Bar Economics Post my favorite part of the Whole Foods salad bar is seeing the amount of awesome I can fit in a salad for the lowest price. So far I have had a smaller salad for $2.52 and the salad below for $3.52.
