The Lemming 10k

Posted Nov 13 2012 1:39pm

Last month the Urban Cow Half Marathon experience a hiccup when the route cyclist led the runners in the wrong direction and tacked more than a half-mile to their race. Well, the same problem occurred in England last Sunday, but with a twist.

Participants in the Town Moor Memorial 10k started correctly, but were soon adrift when an unsuspecting cyclist in fluorescent clothing just happened to cross in front of the lead pack. As he continued on his way, the runners mistook him for the route cyclist and began to follow him .

The error was discovered about a half-mile in and by mutual consent the race was restarted and the proper route run. The cyclist remains unidentified so we don’t know if he realized he was being chased by a mob of runners.

So don’t be a lemming, be a leader !
