The Color Run came to Orange Beach and after giving the Color Me Rad a try, I thought the boys would LOVE this run!
How cool that it was in my backyard! The boys and I actually saw the truck pulling into town. Of course, we chased down the truck and snapped a picture!
Packet pick up was super easy. I walked straight up to the booth signed in and grab my loot.
Saturday morning we are up bright and early, ready to go. Good thing we left a little early, traffic turned out to be awful. We were lucky and grabbed one of the last parking spots at The Wharf.
The crew hanging out before the race waiting for everyone to show up!
We decide to head to the starting line. Unfortunately The Color Run did not have different start times to sign up for, so everyone who participated showed up for a 9:00 start. Did I mention that was about 8,000 people!
We were actually near the front of the pack (third wave) so we only had to wait 30-45 minutes to start. Our group was definitely getting a little antsy and excited to start!
We actually stayed together for the first mile or so, but from there all three boys were running different paces and could not seem to stay together. Rebecca my running buddy’s kids went with their dad, Chase ended up running with Aunt Shirin (to help her “walk”), Cole ran with Rebecca and Trey tried to run his fastest 5K ever! He ran through the first 3 colors shoots without a smidgen of color on him. I talked him into slowing down and asked the volunteers to dump color on him! Finally he was colored!
The photographers captured pictures of the boys and Rebecca but none of me and Shirin.
Trey showing off his color after Cole threw a handful of yellow on him!
We ended up crossing the finish line close to one another! Let me tell you it was crazy! We lost each child at least two times each after the finish.
The boys after pics! They had a blast throwing color on each other!
The after party looked awesome; but way to crowded for the boys though so we headed home!
In the end everyone had a great time! We will definitely be doing a Color Run in the future!
