It is amazing how even a crazy few days can feel so much easier after a huge stress is gone! Since Monday I have been going non-stop between my test, O’s activities, a concert, the zoo, dentist and just everyday life! And there is more to come this busy, fun week! I am loving that my only priority is nothing besides fun with O and Matt.
Tuesday night we celebrated Matt’s birthday a week early with a concert to remind me I truly am getting old! The show started at 7:30 (really 8ish) and didn’t finish to almost midnight, with the headliners taking the stage when I am normally going to bed. Now top that with standing the entire time. The venue was small and as always Adam Duritz didn’t disappoint. I even ran into an old co-worker who I haven’t seen in years. Counting Crows bring me back to college days! Matt's favorite band and was thrilled they played my favorite song:

After a late night followed by an early wake up courtesy of cute little 3 year old we spent the morning at the zoo. We met friends and they had a blast! O even got the feed a giraffe and the Africa exhibit. Somehow the kids remained intrigued by the squirrels and chipmunks running around!
What a fun experience!
I have barely run since Saturday so I decided to be the strange lady who ran to the dentist yesterday, pretty sure I was the talk of the clinic the rest of the afternoon especially after the conversation turned to my plans of running Dopey Challenge in January. I kind of enjoy when people think I am nuts for all my running adventures! How do you feel about people’s reactions to your running/workouts?
Now for the routine leg update: easy runs pain free Jeasy hills pain free J running in the heat lacking L thanks to minimal “training” in heat. I decided this morning that my marathon training plan will really start next week, I think I can ease back into hills and speed work. I want to limit “junk miles” and focus on quality while limiting my runs to 4 days per week. I am adding in a day or two of swimming and continuing with two days of biking/spin and three days of strength. I think this cut back will be what my body likes. Have you tried a lower mileage/lower day running with success?
