Steamboat Springs 2012

Posted May 08 2012 12:00am
Winter Vacation 2012  What a fun vacation!  The kids had a blast! We got over 28" of snow the first night.  Best powder ever!

Let's start from the beginning.  Chris and I decided to fly out to visit with his brother and wife.  My parents drove the kids to Steamboat.  (Yes they are awesome and thank goodness for kindle fire's, ds, ipods and laptops!  26 hours is a long way with a 10, 8 and 6 year old!) We are about an hour into our 2 1/2 hour flight when we start to descend.  OK this is weird.  The flight attendant moves a pilot that is hitching a ride to the emergency exit, then runs to the front of the plane and straps herself in.  The pilot gets over the PA system and tells us not to be alarmed, but emergency vehicles will meet us out on the runway and we are going to circle around to burn off fuel.  YIKES!  True to his word about 9 fire trucks follow us in.  We land safely to find out the cockpit had a fire and our pilots had to wear oxygen mask.

On the runway after out emergency landing.  What an experience.

After having to spend the night in Alexandria, LA we make it to Steamboat.  Unfortunately we missed Chris's brother and wife.

The view from the condo, breathtaking!

The first day of skiing everyone is trying to get their ski legs back.  The kids end up doing fantastic.  Chase learned alot in ski school and is ready to go back.

Trey tearing up the slops!

Maybe next year Chris can teach the boys how to snowboard.
Cole just can not help himeself.
That's me!  It was in the single digits that day.  way to cold for this beach girl!

The boys did awesome the whole trip.  They were hard to keep up with once they got their confidence back!
Chase loved the afternoon hot chocolate!

My boys chilling on the slopes after a long day of skiing!

Conquering the hill!

Outside of our condo there was a huge hill.  The boys had a blast snow ball fighting!

The Summit

What a wonderful trip, but we were glad to be home to our 60 degree February weather!
