Race Report
I love this race. It is so popular, you register in February (on my birthday so I never forget!) and it sells out within days. People had signs at the race that said: "Spring Lake registration is unfair!" I think it was all in good fun :) This is my 4th time running the Spring Lake 5 and I love looking back to see how far I have come
Previous Times
2005~45:49 (9:09)
2007~43:56 (8:47)
2010~33:05 (6:35)

Pretty funny, right? Usually we are blessed with beautiful weather, however, this year we were not so lucky. It was pouring when I got up the morning of the race but by the time we got started it had mostly stopped. The course is beautiful and flat and the spectators are amazing. People along the course had set up their own water stops, put out sprinklers for the runners, and played Bruce Springsteen songs for motivation. One house played Born to Run on repeat :) I am happy with my time. I planned to pace myself for a 6:30 overall average and I came pretty close. I think the track work is helping! Because the race is so large there is not an awards ceremony. The top ten male and females receive awards and the top 100 receive coffee mugs toting the Spring Lake logo. I personally love this as I am addicted to coffee and tea. The race also gives out a calendar from the previous year's race, tee shirt, medal and a pint glass so I am building quite a collection of Spring Lake souvenirs.

All the ladies also receive roses...

My mom came down to watch...

This is where my athletic genes come from...
