I will be back next year. Knowing what is coming, I will be more prepared. The scenery was excellent, though the extent of how dry it has been in SoCal was obvious. One flame, and this area will go up in a flash. Pray for rain! Thanks to all the volunteers, and to race director Gary Hilliard (a Badwater finisher this year) for his love and dedication to staging a fine race!

The start (and finish), atop Mt. Wilson.
Sure, it's easy to smile at the start. From left, Kirk, Michael V., moi, Charlie, E-Rod (Eric Lumba)
About 3 to 4 miles is on pavement. That's OCTR member Robert on the right. I will be pacing him at the Angeles Crest 100 in September.

There were bear and rattlesnake encounters.

Here are Mr. Barefoot's feet, after the race.
Ahh, more healthy post-race options!
The second-place finishers in the 40-49 age group -- by gender, not hair style.
