Snow and Black Friday Questions from a confused Canadian

Posted Nov 21 2010 11:15am
My house was freezing when I woke up this morning! I quickly turned on the heat and ate a banana and just sat at the computer not wanting to change into my running clothes. Two things that I dislike about the winter months - getting changed in a cold house and getting out of a hot shower.

Despite the brr-ness (I'm 99.99999% sure that isn't a word...), I had a good run! I ran 4.33 miles in 37:18 for a 8:36ish pace. I didn't feel like I was moving that fast but apparently I was according to my trusty garmin. Light snowflakes started about 1.5miles into my run and then stopped at around mile 4 but as I look out my window I see that it has picked up again. I love snow. I love winter. I love running in cold weather. Does that make me odd? As long as I have a good pair of gloves, hat, and cold weather clothing I am good to go. I enjoy the cool, crisp air. With that being said, I really need some new cold weather gear. I need to pick up another thick under armour shirt (or two) because I really only have one that I actually wear and I can't do laundry everyday because that's just insane. So I'm hittng up the PX today to see if there are any good deals.

Speaking of good deals... what's up with Black Friday? Yes yes I'm from Canada and in the great north we do Boxing Day on December 26th. I hear it's kind of the same thing as Black Friday. How do you know where the good deals are? I tried looking online but no one is really saying specifics. Are malls a zoo? I'm not looking for anything electronic or expensive. I just want to go clothes and maybe shoe shopping. Or is that just pointless because the malls are chaotic? I really don't know how I feel about going shopping at 3 or 4am. Is it *really* worth it?
