simmer down now...

Posted May 31 2012 9:59am
Just this once.

Remember that " mental toughness " I blogged about last week?   Well after seeking a second opinion, the consensus was, the tooth had to go. I somehow managed to crack it vertically and the crack went well below the gum line.  So yesterday, with the aid of two giant shots of Novocaine (seriously, those needles look like something out of a horror film) I endured a quick stint of oral surgery, and the tooth that just couldn't hang with the rest of "us" is now a thing of the past.  The next year will be spent prepping my mouth for battle...I mean an implant.  Seriously, the explanation from dentist #2 on the process it takes to get a replacement tooth just about made me pass out.

So now, I sit here with one less lower right molar than I had last week, and I'm pretty irritable.  Could it be the lack of solid foods, or the fact that I sort of resemble a baby chipmunk in the cheek area? Your guess is as good as mine, but I'll tell you one life lesson that came from this event: teaching a bootcamp style group exercise class and then personal training two clients within hours of tooth extraction is not a wise idea.

Clearly by now I've learned, I'm not one for consistently making wise, informed decisions.
Another reminder that I am not superwoman.  And that I sometimes need....ughh...rest. That evil four letter word that I loathe and seem somewhat incapable of.

Doctors orders are "no strenuous activity for 48 hours" and so I sit here contemplating, "are planks strenuous? How about walking up and down the hill for 30 minutes carrying a sandbag?"

I can't turn the Beast Mode off...

So friends, what is your favorite "non strenuous" workout?  Do share, before I bust out in an uncontrollable fit of burpees...
