There are probably lots of things it could be, but one common problem is your ITB, especially if the pain is on the outside of your leg. Here is a link to a brief explanation of ITB injuries.

There are a lot of stretches for the ITB. Google the two words itb injury to get links to them. Here are the stretches I do

I do all of them before I run, and I repeat the ones for my legs and ITB after I run.

Have any runners experienced this? Years ago I noticed after a run of any distance, or even a spin class, I get shooting pains from my groin down my left leg. It comes and goes, and NEVER happens while I'm running or biking. I went to a sports medicine doctor in 2003, got x-rays and he saw nothing. He said it was most likely a muscle pull. So I cut back my mileage for a few months. Now it's 2008 and I still get it. It's not excruciating and it doesn't stop me from completing long-distance training and races. I don't want to ignore it as I'm sure it's my body telling me something! If anyone has any advice, please pass along.
