The title of this post is my favorite U2 song, technically about heroin addiction but in a broader sense the desire, in my mind, to press on during life's many challenges and obstacles. It's the heart of "The Joshua Tree" album.
The song has been banging around my head a lot lately. As 2007 draws to a close, with the promise that a new year always brings, I want to say thank you to all of my dear friends in the running universe and beyond who get it:
That life may be about getting stronger and faster and attaining goals, but what it boils down to, really, is achieving a sense of peace and purpose with that person who too often seems to get pushed aside:
Oneself.
Keep charging. But not on your credit cards.
