Running Pics and Jump & Pump!

Good Morning!

It is a dreary day in New Jersey today: down pours and thunderstorms. I am off to the gym for a quick sweat sesh and some “me time” in the steam room and gym jacuzzi. Later, Dan’s mom is coming up and we are going to see The Help. Has anyone seen it yet? I hope it is as good as the book!

I just took a fantastic exercise class at the gym this morning- Jump & Pump. The instructor described it as the hardest class our gym offers and one step above bootcamp (minus the running). I was a little nervous about what I got myself into but it was seriously a great class!

We started with push ups- about 50-60 of them, broken up into sets. I lost track after awhile, but for my first set I did 13 (full push ups), the next 12 (knees). For the rest we did sets of 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 with that many seconds of rest between sets. Killer. My arms are already sore.

Then, when are arms were thoroughly burning, we switched to jumping rope. This would be our “rest interval” for the entire class. We switched between traditional jumping, skipping, high knees, opening and closing the legs, moving to the left and then to the right; front and back, etc.

Other Exercises
*Wide leg burpees
*Ski hops + burpees
*Rolling like a ball + Jump
*Rolling like a ball + Push up
*Mountain Climbers w/ Sliders
*Slider Tucks
*Fast Feet Variations- w/ touch, w/ burpees
*Crazy abs at the end

Whew. I am exhausted and already sore. I probably won’t be walking tomorrow but I can’t wait to take the class again. Maybe I will make a video, demonstrating some of the exercises because they are kind of hard to explain.

After class, the drill sergeant the instructor came up to me and told me I did a great job. I almost told him I teach boot camp, but I ended up not mentioning it.
